This August saw GV’s annual social move from the hilly heights of Kenwood to the lower plains of Lincoln Inn’s Fields. And it was generally thought to be a good move, both for ease of travel (though of course the Piccadilly line was suspended and Charing Cross was shut!), and the surrounding amenities: there’s a small Waitrose and a Sainsbury, plus lots of cafes in Kingsway and High Holborn and also a cafe in the park (for loos at the very least)
Ten of us took to the shade of the eastern end as we wanted to avoid somewhat noxious barbeques – seriously people! Who is barbequeing in this drought period! – and it was lovely to meet Gill’s “International Man of Mystery”, and also officially welcome Marianne who has now joined us. It was all very convivial, and there were many fine hats. Thanks to everyone who brought food and / or drink. We can recommend the tea marinated eggs kindly brought by Alice Amanda and Elizabeth – decorative and tasty!
