Tarot: History, Art and Practice

With the weather turning decidedly autumnal, our October meeting took place in Jackson’s Lane, and our speaker was Andy Peregrine (Clare’s partner and longtime friend of Gothic Valley) on Tarot.  It was a fascinating talk encompassing the history of the cards, a brief introduction into how to read them, and also how to look out for scams!

Andy had brought with him various packs so we could see the different artworks and types, and he stressed that if you want to take Tarot Reading up, to find a pack that speaks to you and that you enjoy as you will be studying them a lot!  He also recommended a couple of books for newbies:

78 Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack, and

Tarot for Dummies

(not linking to the Bezos beast!)

Andy was very happy to take questions, although, as is so often the case, I think he was slightly surprised at some of them!  It was a slightly shorter meeting as we only had the space for 2 hours so unfortunately the raffle will have to reappear next time.  However please provide a BIG round of applause to Rosie whose sterling jam work meant we sold over £50’s worth, and who was injured – by jam – in the process of making.  Greater sacrifice etc.  We also welcomed Jem, friend of Alice Amanda, and hope to see her again soon.

Our November meeting looks unmissable as our very own Verene will help us all craft patterned gift paper.  She assures us that it is really easy and I’m really looking forward to it.

See you then!
